First steps Aloaha Multisignator

Before you start please make sure that you download the Aloaha Multisignator from http://www.aloaha.com/download/aloaha_multisignator.zip

SHA-256 Signatures are only supported if a native supported smart card with SHA-256 capabilites is being used. Otherwise Aloaha will use the default SHA-1 algorythm.

To be able to evaluate all features of Aloaha it is strongly suggested that you contact us at aloaha@wrocklage.de and ask for an evaluation key!

Installation

Open the downloaded zip archive and call aloaha_multisignator.exe. The best way is just to click through and install in default directories, etc.

After you finished the installation please call the Aloaha Multisignator from the Wrocklage program group in your windows start menu.

Signature Configuration

In the left upper corner of the Aloaha Multisignator you find the "Reader Settings". Here you can configure which smartcard reader or certificate should be used for signing.

In case you own a native supported card such as TCOS3, D-Trust, TC-Trustcenter, eGK, HBA, etc. it is suggested to deactivate the tick box "Use CryptoAPI". In this mode Aloaha will access the card directly. The advantages in this mode are performance and SHA-256 signatures. Furthermore it is not required (and not even suggested) to have a driver/middleware for the used card installed.

Unsupported Smart Cards and software certificates can be used if you enable the tick box "Use CryptoAPI". In this mode Aloaha will always create SHA-1 signatures.

After you decided to use the native or CryptoAPI mode please click the button "Configure Signature". A new dialog will pop up to allow you to define the signature appearance, timestamping server, signature location, etc.

HINT: Click on the image to change the image. Click on X, Y to position the Image.

If you need to place the signature not on the first page but on the last page please contact our support.

Global Settings

Here you can configure the signature position. The values in the boxes are percentages. With the left mouse button pressed you can also draw a box on the white area (representing a page) so that Aloaha creates the percentages automatically. With a right mouse click on the same white area you reset the box.

Please do not forget to define the "Failed PDF Folder". In case signatures fail they can be moved there then.

Define Directories

To define drop directories please click on the "Add" button at the right lower corner of the dialog.

A new dialog will open where you can configure the directories. Please note that you can just drag and drop directories from the windows explorer.

Configured directories can always be re-configured with just a double click on them.

HINT: If the "Input Folder" contains an @ and a dot Aloaha will send every signed document to that email address!

To activate the mailer please enable the checkbox "Activate Mailer". When activated signed documents will be copied fully automatic to the "Input Folder" of the Automailer.

Aloaha Automailer

The Aloaha Automailer dialog opens automatic if you activate the mailer. This automailer will automatically mail every document dropped into the folder "Input Folder". Mailed documents will be moved to the folder configured in "Output Folder".
It is a must to configure those two directories correctly!

The target email will be taken from the document itself. Aloaha will evaluate the Aloaha embedded automailer commands. For example emailto:. For a list of commands please contact our support.
If the orginal document drop folder has the form of an email address that address will be used as emailto as well.

With the embedded command subject: you can define the subject of the email. If no subject is defined the value default subject will be used.

With the command emailfrom you define the sender address. if not found the email and Name configured in this dialog will be taken.

In Mail Server you define your SMTP settings. Please contact our support in case your SMTP requires other authentication methods than plain text.

POP3 Downloader

Aloaha is not only able to digitally sign PDF documents dropped into the drop folder but also PDF documents embedded in mail files (*.eml). As soon Aloaha detects an *.eml file it will extract the PDF documents, sign them and place them back into the *.eml file.

The *.eml functionality could be quite handy if you point the "Output Folder" to the pick directory of your local IIS. Like that every eml file will be right away delivered by email!

Aloaha includes also a POP3 downloader. In the directory list of Aloaha right click on a directory. A context menu will open. Here you choose POP3. A new dialog will open. Here you can configure the POP mailbox used. The settings required here are explained more detailed in our Multisignator FAQ.

Note: Mails downloaded with the POP3 connector will always be delivered by SMTP to the mail address configured!

To save network traffic and computer resources the POP3 downloader will only download mails if all configured input folders are empty!

Directory based Configuration

You can fine tune the POP3 and signature settings for every folder indepently! Just right click on the folder and choose in the popping up context menu POP3 or Signature!
