Aloaha FAX/SMS Suite Installation
- Download Setup Package
- Execute aloahafaxsuite_setup.exe
- When setup finishes the initial configuration is called. When finished just close this GUI.
Choose Service User
By default the Windows Service "Aloaha FAX Suite Server" is installed to run under the LocalSystem account credentials. This should be re-configured for serveral reasons:
- Microsoft suggests NOT to run any service as LocalSystem which does not require LocalSystem rights.
- To convert a document format into the FAX format Aloaha requires to call the assigned application. For example Winword for .doc files.
Some applications show a message box with a confirmation button on the first startup. In case you run Aloaha as LocalSystem you will never see that message box and you might think that Aloaha hangs.
If you run Aloaha as an ordinary user you are able to log on as that user and run that application for the first time manually and confirm that message box.
Send the first FAX or SMS with Aloaha
You can use your prefered email client to send a FAX or SMS via Aloaha.
Just write an email, attach the document to be faxed in case you send a fax, and define the FAX or Mobile Number.
To define the FAX or Mobile Number you can choose different options.
- Send an email to number@yourfaxdomain.tld. For example 0815@aloahafax.com.
- Define the number in the display name of the mailbox. If the assinged POP3 mailbox is sms@yourdomain.tld you would send an email to "0815" <sms@yourdomain.tld> to instruct Aloaha to send a SMS to 0815
- In some cases it is not possible to use the display name. For example Outlook will replace the display name automatically if it finds a display name in the active directory for the mailbox.
In that case you can embed a command in the mailbody or mailsubject. Just write [%%:0815] and Aloaha will send the SMS or FAX to 0815.
