PFX File Support

The suggest way of using certificates with Aloaha is via CSP/Windows Certificate Store or to access smartcards native.

In some rare cases it might be important for the user NOT to import certifcates into the certificate store but to use them direct. That is possible with Aloaha if the PFX is NOT password protected/encrypted.

Usage of PFX Files with Aloaha PDF Suite Pro

To use a PFX file with the Aloaha PDF Suite pro you need to edit HKCU\Software\Aloaha\pdf\UniqueContainerName and change it to the path of your PFX file. For exampel c:\file\cert.pfx.

Usage of PFX Files with Aloaha PDF Suite Server Edition

One of the main features of the server edition is the capability of batch sign documents via hotfolder. To use a PDF file please copy the PFX File in the pfxdir subdirectory of Aloaha. Typically that is c:\program files\wrocklage\pfxdir. In case the directory does not exist you need to create it.

Now you need to create a subdirectory in the tosign folder. The subdirectories name must be the same as the pfx file. For example cert.pfx.

Now every document placed in c:\program files\wrocklage\tosign\<pfx name> will be signed with the pfx file.

Usage of PFX Files progammatically

To use the PFX Files with the signature API please use the path to the certificate as the UniqueContainerName. For example c:\certs\mycert.pfx.
