PDF Autoprint FAQ
Which functionality has the autoprint folder?
1. Every PDF document dropped into that folder will be printed to the configured hardcopy printer. If no printer is configured Aloaha will choose the default printer.
2. Every non PDF document will be printed fully automatically to the Aloaha PDF Printer.
Which license is required to use the autoprint folder?
The Aloaha PDF Suite Server license is required.
Is it possible to configure Aloaha that a different printing handler is used?
Whenever you drop a non PDF document to the autoprint folder the default windows printing handler is being used. You can overwrite that handler in:
HKCU\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprint and/or HKLM\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprint
Is it possible to change the location of the autoprint folder?
Yes, you can reconfigure it in HKLM\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprintfolder and/or HKCU\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprintfolder
Is it possible to support more than one hardcopy printer?
Yes, recent versions of Aloaha support subdirectories in the autoprint folder. Just create subdirectories which have the same name as the printer to be used. In case you printer is a network printer please add the server in brackets before the printername. For example:
(gate)HP500 for the printer \\gate\hp500
I drop a file into the autoprint folder but nothing happens
Make sure you disabled "Interactive" via the system tray icon.
Is it possible to use Adobe as the default print engine?
By default Aloaha uses its own inbould PDF printing engine to send PDF printouts to the hardcopy printer. In some cases it might be required to use the Adobe Reader as the print engine. To enable this feature please set in the registry HKLM\Software\Aloaha\PDF\ForceAdobePrint to "1" (String). The Aloaha Process needs to be restarted afterwards.
After autoprint, it gets copied to a folder named printed. We are sending a lot of files through this, we'd like to not have it copied there. Anyway to handle that?
From Version 3.0.93 you can create a registry Key HKLM\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprint\DelAfterPrint with value 1 and Aloaha will delete the job after it was printed.
Can I use Letterheads?
Yes, it is possible that a letterhead is applied to PDF Documents before they are send to the hardcopy printer. To enable that feature please set HKLM\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprint\RenderLetterHead to "1". The path to the Letterhead itself is defined in HKLM\Software\Aloaha\pdf\autoprint\LetterHead.
